Bruce's interest in the outdoors began when his father took him to his engineering firm's 'Take Your Child To Work Day'.  This helped Bruce know he had no desire to sit behind a desk or computer to earn a living.

After hiring himself out to various outdoor adventure firms as a camping, backpacking, ocean and reef snorkeling trips, he became an independent guide and eventually started a small company leading adventures and eventually training people to become guides themselves.

Bruce met his fiance, Jamie, while taking a course himself on endangered and poisonous plants.
