Esmerita (Rita) met her husband while she was working as a planning and budget analyst for the Ministry of Economy and Finance.  She quit her job when she became pregnant with their first child, but had a miscarriage and lost the baby.  She opted to stay home and focus on her physical and mental health in order to maximize her chance of having another child, which occurred eleven months after the miscarriage.

Her family lives next door to her in-laws.  Rita, as her friends call her, prefers to spend time volunteering and supporting her children.
